Madrona Hill

To jump start my personal journey back into photography, I thought long and hard to come up with a series I could merely accomplish and serve as a starting point to fuel my inspiration. Little did I know that the 3 hours I spent on this series would yield 25 different portraits. With cooperation of the owner of Madrona Hill Baking Company, a cafe I frequent, I was able to set up a natural light studio in the confines of the cafe to photograph some of the regulars and not so regulars visiting on that day.

I found pure joy capturing my portraits with just a little more than the basics of capturing light. A camera, a lens, a tripod a reflector with a black piece of cloth serving as the background. The most profound way of finding clarity is thru simplicity. For not more than 2 minutes at most, my subjects came and sat and looked for direction. Little did they know I was the one following.

As I look at this series, I am finding that I am back on a road, in a direction and with a purpose. It feels good to travel again...
